Longleaf Old Fashioned

One of our all-time best selling cocktails, the Longleaf Old Fashioned is our play on a true Southern classic. The secret sauce that makes this cocktail so good (other than our delicious Bottled in Bond Borrowed Bourbon) is the addition of Oleo Saccharum, a simple orange syrup. It's easy to make and has a wide range of uses on the bar.

To make the Oleo Saccharum:

8 oz. Cut orange scraps (leftover peels & some flesh)

16 oz. Water

8 oz. Granulated Sugar

  1. Add citrus and water to sauce pan and bring to a light simmer stirring often

  2. Simmer until liquid reduces by half

  3. Strain out the solids and return the liquid to the pan

  4. Add the sugar and stir over low heat until fully dissolved

  5. Allow to cool and store refrigerated for up to 3 weeks

Now for the Cocktail:

2 oz. Borrowed Bourbon (Bottled in Bond)

1/2 oz. Oleo Saccharum

3 dashes Angostura bitters

  1. Add all ingredients into mixing glass

  2. Add ice and stir until chilled

  3. Strain into D.O.F. glass with ice cube

  4. Garnish with flamed orange coin
